I didn't get my unlock key, what do I do?
Simply visit this page and enter your email address. Your key will be resent to that email address.
- I don't have my key, and I don't have access to the email account where I signed up. What can I do?
I suggest signing up for a new key using your new email address. :-)
- I get "wrong unlock key" when trying to activate Real Link Finder. Why?
During activation of the software, we save your key to a folder on your machine. If you don't have permission to create a folder in the right place, you will see an error which says, "wrong unlock key". Unfortunately, that means you won't be able to activate Real Link Finder on that machine as that user. However, you could log in as administrator to perform the activation. We are working on a coding solution where the key is written to the registry, not to a folder. We will let you know when the new version is available. This problem only affects a small percentage of people installing and activating Real Link Finder.
- Which version of .NET do I need?
Most people will need the 2.0 version from here.
- What does Real Link Finder do, in a nutshell...
Real Link Finder automatically finds on-topic blog posts with a certain number of comments. It then checks for "nofollow" in the HTML of each blog post and discards the ones it finds containing "nofollow". This allows you to quickly and easily find on-topic blog posts whose external links count towards your linkpopularity and PageRank. You then leave a quality comment at the blog and enjoy the benefits of having Real Links pointing to your pages.
- Is Real Link Finder a spammers tool?
No. Real Link Finder helps you find blogs that don't use "nofollow" in any niche you want to search for. It can fill in the "name", "url" and "email" fields to speed up the process of leaving a comment. It does NOT fill in the actual comment field. The user of Real Link Finder must actually write each comment. We strongly urge every user of Real Link Finder to leave valid, quality, well-written comments for two reasons. Firstly, poor comments will not get past moderators, so leaving poor comments is a waste of time. Secondly, if someone leaves low-quality comments, that will just result in less blogs that don't use nofollow, which is against our interests. For the benefit of both the blog owners and blog commentators, we urge everyone to leave quality comments in all situations.
- What's the point of searching for blogs with existing comments? Doesn't that just give less results?
It gives much more accurate results. Most blogs that use nofollow will use it in the comment links. If you search for blog posts with existing comments, you're much more likely to be able to weed out any blogs using "nofollow".
- Why make us select the number of comments each blog post should have? Why not just show blogs with more than one comment?
That's a good question. Basically, it's to make your use of Real Link Finder as efficient as possible. I suggest you start by looking for blogs with 5 existing comments... that gives you the best chance of detecting and weeding out blogs that use nofollow (see the answer to the question above). As you search for blog posts with less existing comments, it's more likely you'll find blog posts with comments where the people who left the comments didn't leave links to their websites... which means that the blog post may show up in Real Link Finder as a "false positive" because Real Link Finder didn't find the "nofollow" attribute.
That's why we don't let Real Link Finder return blog posts without any comments, because we can't accurately determine if the blog uses nofollow or not.
- How do I use the preview pane? When I double click on a search result, Internet Explorer keeps opening!
Just click once on a search result to see the blog in the preview pane. Click twice to open the URL in Internet Explorer.
- Why do I get blog results I can't leave a comment on?
There are a few times that Real Link Finder may return blog posts that you can't leave a comment on. One reason is that the blog comments for that specific post have been closed by the blog owner. Different blogs report this in different ways, so it's not easy to automatically filter out blog posts with closed comments. Another reason is when a website has scraped the content of a blog and reprinted it on their webpage. Real Link Finder will be "tricked" into returning the page as a match even though there isn't a way to leave a comment.
- Why don't I get any results?
Either the search keywords are too narrow, or you're requesting too few results. Try a general word or phrase for your search words, and start with 100 in the "number of blogs to search".
- Windows Vista won't let me install the application
I think you'll have to log in as Admin and either install the application (and give everyone permission to use it) or give other users permission to install applications.
- When I find a blog, sometimes there is another post that I would rather respond to (whether or not it has comments). Is it reasonable to assume that in virtually all cases that will yield me as good a link?
Yes, if a blog with comments (and links in the comments) is returned by Real Link Finder, you can assume that the other posts on the blog will be “nofollow-free” too. It doesn’t matter if the other posts have existing comments or not.
- I love this software. How can I help spread the word?
Cool! You can Tell A Friend, you can copy and paste any of the links here into your website or blog, or mention "RealLinkFinder.com" to your email lists. If you can reach a lot of people, check out our rebranding offer... it's free too!
If your question isn't answered, send it in!

PS, if you like the software, please tell your friends and gain access to my "Linking To Victory" movie!
PPS, feel free to leave a comment at the blog letting me know what you think of the software. I'll be looking for improvement suggestions too! (oh, and the blog doesn't use "nofollow", so leave your website link!) ;-)
